chapter 4 vocabulary

Tunic pg. 101:a gown like outer garment, with or without sleeves and sometimes belted. The bright pink tunic was contrasted by the white belt that she wore.
Hopper pg. 103:a funnel-shaped chamber or bin in which loose material, as grain or coal, is stored temporarily, being filled through the top and dispensed through the bottom. The hoppers were filled with coal.
Plantain pg. 105:a tropical plant of the banana family, resembling the banana. The plantain was so ripe and full of fruit that the branches drooped form the weight of the fruit.
Compassion pg. 107:a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering. The compassion expressed by some of the citizens of Oaxaca and Veracruz is so heart moving.
Truce pg. 113 : an agreement or treaty. When playing wrestling games we always scream truce in order to not loose.
